Caramelized Onion Appetizer

1 T olive oil
2 large red onions, cut in quarters and thinly slicked
combine:
1 T garlic, minced
1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
1/2 cup red wine
2 T brown sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
Heat oil, cook onions on low heat until soft and translucent (10-20 minutes). Add all other ingredients and cook on low heat until reduced and thick, about 15 minutes.
Serve with crackers or French bread and plain goat cheese.
